Scotch Tape Manicure 3 June 2012

When Maud came to visit from France last summer, she brought all kinds of cool manicure tools with her.  Then she showed us all these websites she uses for ideas, and we were hooked.  It took me a little longer to catch on since my nails were always breaking and splitting, but since starting a B Vitamin supplement a few months ago, they are long and strong!  And now that we’re all on Pinterest, inspiration abounds!

I saw really cool manicure on Pinterest and couldn’t imagine how she made the design. I followed the link and had to click around the website, but eventually found out she uses Scotch Tape of all kinds of designs from French tips to sunburst rays! So. Very. Cool.

Of course you know I had to try it. Here’s how mine turned out:

Scotch Tape Manicure!

I even went out and bought Seche Vite top coat. Or SV as it’s known in the Nail World. Can’t wait to try another design!

You didn’t get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

You didn’t get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate Energy policy and push us to invade Iraq .

You didn’t get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.

You didn’t get mad when the Patriot Act was passed.

You didn’t get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us. You didn’t get mad when we spent over 800 billion (and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn’t get mad when Bush borrowed more money from foreign sources than the previous 42 Presidents combined.

You didn’t get mad when over 10 billion dollars in cash just disappeared in Iraq .

You didn’t get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn’t get mad when Bush embraced trade and outsourcing policies that shipped 6 million American jobs out of the country.

You didn’t get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn’t get mad when we didn’t catch Bin Laden.

You didn’t get mad when Bush rang up 10 trillion dollars in combined budget and current account deficits.

You didn’t get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

You didn’t get mad when we let a major U.S. city, New Orleans, drown.

You didn’t get mad when we gave people who had more money than they could spend, the filthy rich, over a trillion dollars in tax breaks. You didn’t get mad with the worst 8 years of job creations in several decades.

You didn’t get mad when over 200,000 US Citizens lost their lives because they had no health insurance.

You didn’t get mad when lack of oversight and regulations from the Bush Administration caused US Citizens to lose 12 trillion dollars in investments, retirement, and home values.

No… You finally got mad…

When a black man was elected President and decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick.

Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, job losses by the millions, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, and the worst economic disaster since 1929 are all okay with you, but helping fellow Americans who are sick…

Oh, Hell No!!

Propaganda and the Wound that Won’t Heal 11 September 2010

Really, MSNBC, you’re rerunning the live coverage of the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers, minute by minute AND at the exact time it happened?? THIS is why people can’t get over it. One of your commentators said how no one has a problem planning events for December 7th, but “9 years out is too soon for September 11th”. And if seeing the second jet fly into the south tower can make a jaded person like me get teary-eyed, what are you doing to everyone else? You are perpetuating the problem

It’s time to rip the Band-Aid off and let the scab heal. Stop rebroadcasting this crap, and BUILD the replacement buildings on Ground Zero. With all the Park51 “Mosque” controversy, some people are asking why nothing has been rebuilt after nine years – this is why: PROPAGANDA. It would not be as effective to have the bagpipe players walking down steps at a garden in front of a new building as it is to walk around in the same pit of unfinished concrete that has been there for NINE YEARS. It plays on people’s emotions and keeps them stuck in the past and afraid.

But then again, I’m cynical.

And part of me still thinks Bush and his Neo-Con Wolfowitz Doctrine friends let it happen on purpose.

It’s time to move on.

Furious Fuschia Challenger 8 July 2010

We are both totally in love with the redesigned Dodge Challenger. Denise had her heart set on an orange one (can you say, Dukes of Hazzard? :-D), until she saw this:

She’ll take the one with the skunk stripes. Thanks!!
